A representative attends for your window, provides access, logs when the contractor or courier arrived and left, notes what was done or delivered at a general level, photographs the outcome if you have asked for it, and secures the property afterwards. You get a short report and your day back.
It is worth being precise about what this is not: attending an appointment is not supervision of the work and not any endorsement of its quality.
