There is no score, and that is deliberate.
The obvious version of this is a “Vacant Home Score” out of 100. It would be more shareable and it would be worse. A number like 78 implies something was measured — but nothing here measures anything. It reads a form. It has never seen your house, your mechanical room, or the corner of the basement where the grade slopes the wrong way.
An owner who reads 82 and decides to skip a visit has been misled by a marketing device. So instead these tools count what you have actually done, name the considerations that follow from what you told them, and link to the reasoning behind each one.
What they do instead
- Count preparation steps actually ticked — a fact, not a judgement
- Flag the high-consequence steps separately and never call a list complete while one is outstanding
- Show the arithmetic behind the frequency suggestion
- Link every consideration to the page explaining why it matters
- Defer to your insurance policy wherever the two could conflict
- Work without JavaScript, in a degraded but useful form
