Plant Watering
Three weeks away and the fiddle leaf fig does not care about your holiday.
Plants are the most common reason someone first calls about a house they are leaving, and they are a genuinely awkward thing to ask a neighbour to do for six weeks. They are also a good early test of whether a property-care service is actually paying attention, because plant instructions are specific and easy to get wrong.
You record instructions per plant or per group — where it is, how often, how much, and anything unusual such as rotating it, misting it, or not letting it sit in a saucer. The attending representative works from that list at every visit and confirms what was done, with photographs where you want them.
Outdoor planters, hanging baskets and container gardens can be included, with the obvious Calgary caveat that watering is weather-dependent and a container that froze overnight in September is beyond anyone's help.
One thing worth saying plainly: nobody here is a horticulturist. Plants are watered to your instructions and their visible condition is reported honestly. Diagnosing why something is unhappy is not part of the service.
